Embedded VPE Objects 

Hi All

I have this report which uses:

Set piOpenDocFlags to VPE_EMBEDDED

and after running the report no report is displayed on the screen.

Also this code:

Send DoUpdateStatusPanel ("Preparing Report:"*(Trim(TEST.Id)))

Doesn't do anything. Not sure why.

first i would suggest using the pbEmbedded property. AFAIK either will work but the pbEmbedded property is the official way.

Set pbEmbedded to TRUE

this will cause the VPE Preview to be a child of your reportview  and be embedded

Now that it is a child object it needs a location and size. if you use a cszVpeReportView and you do not have the pbRegisterWithParent property of the report set to false all should work automatically.

if you do not use the cszVpeReportView class or have the pbRegisterWithParent property of the report set to false you need to make sure the report object is properly located and sized.

As far as the DoUpdateStatusPanel goes do you have the StatusPanel enabled ? Do you see the statuspanel while the report is running ? Where did you put the DoUpdateStatusPanel code ?

There are a few samples in the Vpe workspace that show embedded reports as well

Hi Mike

We are currently using the following class for our reports:

cszVpeReport, with a dbview.

I have found the problem with the staus panel, and there was a flag turned off, so I corrected this, and it works.

I have set the following line:

Set pbRegisterDocumentWithParent TO TRUE

and I get the following error:

Invalid message. SET_PHOVPEDOCUMENTOBJECT

Not sure what this is?

the pbReisterDocumentWithParent property only works if your report is a child of a object derived from the cszVpeReportView class

The cszVpeReportView class will then take care of resizing/etc

Hi Mike

Thanks for this information. So I have looked over your examples, and you have one which can't go outside the MDI area, which is what we want.

Can this be acheived with the class I am using, as I have set the embedded property, but then nothing comes up when I run the report.

How do you make the report appear as a window, but not let it go outside the MDI space?
